Technical Internship Program

Pulp & Paper Centre Graduate Student Technical Internship Program

The Pulp & Paper Centre has a Graduate Student Internship Program for students registered as a Pulp & Paper Centre graduate student.

This program allows selected students to work in a mill in their area of research for two months. The goal is to improve student’s industry knowledge, experience, and employment prospects, and create research linkages.

During the internship, the student stipend will be continued by his/her supervisor, and the industrial partner will provide extra living expenses (including an apartment and a meal allowance).

To apply to this program, students should submit an application letter with a copy of their CV to the Secretary of the Pulp & Paper Centre. Your application letter should indicate the research area(s) of interest, earliest starting date that you will be available, and should explain how you could contribute to this project. Your application must be approved by your supervisor and it is your responsibility to seek this approval before your application is submitted.

Applications will be reviewed and successful students will be notified for an interview.

This program needs industry sponsors. The Centre will identify potential students and ensure the student stipends are paid during the internship; however, we ask the sponsor companies take responsibility for the student living and transport costs. These students will see a great benefit and we believe the sponsor company will identify excellent potential employees.

We are interested in having student pursue projects that include (but are not limited to):

Lime kiln operation
Bioreactors
Paper coating

If your company is able to host some students at your location, please contact our Director and/or Secretary and ask to be part of the Graduate Student Technology Internship Program.

We look forward to hearing from you, and would be pleased to hearing your thoughts on this issue.
