Births and Weddings

Vishal Ahuja (M.A.Sc. 2001, Centre Alumna) and his wife Priti are the proud parents of a lovely
baby girl named Diya Raj Ahuja. Diya arrived in this world on February 8, 2006, weighing in at 7 lb, 3 oz.
Congratulations to David Schryer (Chem0T0; M.A.Sc. 2005, Centre Alumna) and his wife Maris Eigi (M.A.Sc. 2004) on the arrival of their daughter Debi Schryer, who was born on February 18, 2006, weighing 8.8 lb.
Mark A. Smith (M.A.Sc. candidate) and his wife Simone are pleased to announce the birth of Matthew Justin Smith, who was born on April 23, 2006, weighing 9 lb, 3 oz.
David Balke (Chem 9T1; M.A.Sc., 1994; Ph.D. 2006, Centre Alumna) and his wife Heidi welcomed Lauren Elizabeth Balke, a sister for Matthew, on April 19, 2006, weighing 8 lb, 6.2 oz.
Kevin Zhang (M.A.Sc. 2004, Centre Alumna) and his wife are announce the birth of their son Charles ShengHao on June 21, 2006, weighing in at 8 lb, 9 oz.


Awards

Congratulations to our graduate students:

Sabina Di Risio and Nicholas Wood for winning Henry Bolker Award
for their second and third place finish in the Papier Graduate Student Seminar competition, and to Laleh Kobari for her 3rd place finish and winning the Alkis Karnis Memorial Prize in Papier Graduate Student Poster Competition.

These competitions were held last Wednesday and Thursday, February 6 & 7, 2008, as part of Paptac's Annual Conference in Montreal and drew more than 50 poster and seminar presentations by graduate students from 6 different universities across Canada.

Well done and well deserved !
